Xiaomi is committed to improving its Android skin. That’s one of the reasons for switching to HyperOS, which is currently in its second generation. Perhaps to improve performance, enhance stability, and introduce new features, the Chinese company started rolling out HyperOS 2.1. However, it seems available to premium phones, given the phones that have received the upgrade so far.
Xiaomi HyperOS 2.1 update features
While the Xiaomi HyperOS 2.1 update is available for Global and Chinese users, there is a big difference in the features it brings. As usual, the Chinese build comes with more features, perhaps due to restrictions on global ROMs. Nevertheless, many of these features might arrive for global units in the future.
New Fonts: HyperOS 2.1 introduced two new fonts to Chinese users. They are the Handwriting Style Font and SerifStyle Font. Both are exclusive to Chinese ROM users to enhance the visual appearance of their lock screen.
Enhanced Animation: Since the introduction of HyperOS, there has been a great improvement in animation. The company isn’t resting on its laurels as it continues to innovate and improve. On HyperOS 2.1, launching and closing apps animation has been enhanced.
Flashlight Brightness adjustment: On HyperOS 2.1, users can adjust the brightness. It’s available for global users. You can control your flashlight through the Quick Settings panel. There’s a slider that appears after turning on the flagship to control the brightness.
Smarter QR Code Scanning: Xiaomi phones come with a QR code scanner. The latest update has improved its performance, and moving forward, the system will detect QR codes automatically when users keep their phones close to the code using HandFree scanning.

New Lock Screen Designs: Exclusive to Xiaomi Tablets. They are designed to give the Tablets a modern design. There are a handful of options users can choose from, each incorporating a digital clock style that draws inspiration from vintage desk clocks.
Enhanced Home Screen Customization: HyperOS 2.1 introduced a 4×6 home screen layout. Users can place more content on their home screen using the denser app and widget. However, you must disable the default search bar to use them.
Xiaomi HyperConnect: Limited release with HyperOS 2, but now widely available. It supports sharing files between different Xiaomi accounts across multiple devices. Also, Xiaomi phones can transfer files between Apple products with ease.

Renewed Game Turbo Interface: The new design incorporates a performance dashboard. This allows users to monitor the system display performance of CPU and GPU, as well as FPS and network status in real-time.
Camera Enhancements: On HyperOS 2.1, the City night scene has improved, thanks to the improved snapshot capabilities in backlit scenes.
Xiao AI: It is exclusive to a few devices globally. It brings AI features to Xiaomi phones – page summarizing, real-time translation, Circle to Search, AI camera features, and more.
